Indeed, I forgot to mention that. In the PC-FX, the SRAM is 85ns, and the 18W08 is 70ns. Faster is better, so this is fine… but it may not be the case for faster SRAM.

Also, do you keep your PC-FX plugged in ? I lose memory within weeks to months, but I unplug it because I need to free up spots on my power strip. It's possible that the power supply has a trickle to keep the memory alive, but I haven't really explored that theory yet.
